Terrao · Privacy policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Terrao is an Android app that measures parcels, areas and distances on official maps and in the field. This policy explains what data it handles. In short: Terrao has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Your measurements stay on your device. To show maps and look up official registers, the app connects directly to the public services listed below.

What is stored on your device
- Your projects and measurements (vertices, names) and your preferences (area unit, map country, GNSS receiver, corrections server with its user and password) are stored only in the app's private storage. They are not sent to any Terrao server, as there is none.
- The areas you download for offline use are stored on the device.
Location
If you turn the GPS on in the app, Terrao uses your precise location to show where you are and to measure while walking. It is used on the device and is not sent to Terrao. It leaves the device in one case only: when you turn on RTK corrections, the app periodically sends the receiver's position to the corrections server (NTRIP) you set up, such as Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional, because that service computes corrections for where you are. That service's policy applies.
Services the app connects to
The app asks these public services for data directly. As with any Internet connection, they receive your IP address and what you ask for: the tiles of the map area you look at, or the point or reference you look up. Terrao sends them nothing else.
- Maps of Spain: Instituto Geográfico Nacional (PNOA and base map).
- Cadastre: Spain's Dirección General del Catastro, when you turn its layer on, hold the map or search a cadastral reference.
- SIGPAC: Spain's Fondo Español de Garantía Agraria (FEGA), when you turn its layer on or hold the map.
- Maps of France: IGN, Géoplateforme (orthophoto, plan IGN, cadastre and RPG).
- Maps of the Netherlands: PDOK (luchtfoto, BRT, Kadaster and BRP).
- The NTRIP corrections server you set up, if you turn corrections on.
Bluetooth
The Bluetooth permission is used only to connect to the GNSS receiver you choose among your paired devices. The app does not scan for other devices or keep anything about them besides the chosen receiver.
Sharing
When you share a project (KML, GPX, GeoJSON or PDF report), Terrao creates the file on the device and hands it to the app you pick. From then on, that app's policy applies.
Deleting your data
You can delete each measurement, project and downloaded area in the app. Uninstalling it deletes everything it stored. As we keep nothing outside your device, there is no data to request or delete on any server of ours.
Children
Terrao is a professional tool and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with its date.
