VanVolto · Privacy policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
VanVolto is an Android app that helps you design and monitor the electrical system of a motorhome or camper van. This policy explains what data it handles. In short: VanVolto has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Your designs and readings stay on your device. Only your approximate location leaves it, and only when you ask for the solar forecast, as explained below.

What is stored on your device
- Your vehicles and designs (appliances and hours of use, battery, panels, cables and fuses), the reading history of your devices and your preferences are stored only in the app's private storage. They are not sent to any server.
- The encryption keys of your Victron devices are stored encrypted with the Android Keystore and never leave the device.
- The last weather forecast is kept on the device so you can see it offline.
Bluetooth
VanVolto uses Bluetooth only to listen to the data broadcast by your Victron devices with Instant Readout turned on (battery monitors, solar chargers, chargers…). It does not connect to them: it decrypts the data on the phone with the key you copy from VictronConnect. It ignores any other nearby devices and keeps nothing about them. On Android 11 or earlier, the system requires the location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices; VanVolto does not use it to find out where you are.
Location and solar forecast
The app asks for your approximate location only when you tap "Use my location", and uses it for two things:
- Weather forecast: it sends the coordinates to our forecast service (api.vanvolto.jarriaga.eus), which passes them on to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) and returns the forecast. Our service does not keep your coordinates or your IP address.
- Average solar radiation to size the panels: the app asks PVGIS, from the European Commission, directly. PVGIS receives your IP address and the coordinates, and its own policy applies.
Purchases
VanVolto Pro is bought through Google Play, as a one-time purchase or a yearly subscription. Google handles payment data under its own privacy policy; VanVolto never sees or stores your payment method. The app only asks Google Play, from the device, which purchases you own, to turn on the Pro features, and keeps that answer on the device to work offline. The subscription is managed and cancelled in Google Play.
Sharing
When you share a PDF report, VanVolto creates it on the device and hands it to the app you pick. From then on, that app's policy applies.
Deleting your data
You can delete each vehicle, design and device in the app. Uninstalling it deletes everything it stored. As we keep nothing of yours outside your device, there is no data to request or delete on any server of ours.
Children
VanVolto is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with its date.
